Welcome along to the night shift. This is where you'll find me every Friday night/ Saturday morning. I'm at work, at Classic, playing out the overnight shows on the station. It's a strange job in the sense that I'm not supposed to exist, as the shows are meant to be portrayed as live, and as such, I shouldn't be here, the presenters should. I think Classic FM has a good mix of pre rec and live; during Monday - Friday 16hours are live, which is quite a lot when compared to a lot of other stations. Anyway enough with the trade secrets. It's also a strange job in the sense that I work in a building that has 6 floors, and at the moment there are about 7 or 8 people in the building - slightly spooky sometimes!
I was searching around the internet a little while ago and came across this story on the BBC website. Utter nonsense. The excuse given is that it is not about censorship, they are simply trying to make the words fit better within the theme. That's not the government's job is it? The last I heard was that they were supposed to look after us citizens and do good things for the country, not re-write songs. There have been many terrible songs in the past that could do with a re-write, but for goodness sake, is nothing sacred? I feel sorry for kids who are between well, birth and 10, because they are entering a very different world, to the one even I entered, let alone the generation above me!
Was able to catch a bit of Friday Night with JR - will probably watch the rest on the iPlayer tomorrow/tonight. I think I would say the iPlayer is the greatest invention of the 21st century so far. Given that the iPod and the internet was last century, I think that that's about right. Lily Allen looked hot as ever. There's something strange about her, she isn't traditionally good looking and is a bit of a chav, but yet she's gorgeous. I dunno what it is...Oh well.
I always find it confusing as to whether tonight is Friday or Saturday when I'm at work. I'm slowly coming round to the idea that it's Saturday, and I work on Saturday mornings and not Friday nights. Well, with that in mind, I'm looking forward to tonight (Saturday) as it's Sarah's birthday shindig at the Undercroft, which she's opening especially for the event, and at which me and Phil will be spinning some tunes, along with Robin. We're also DJing on Monday as well under the 'Big Phat' banner, which is Phil's own and I like to think I have a little part of as well, seeing as I headline the nights.
Well, that's all for now, if I find something else to talk about I could well be back before I finish work - that's 7am don't you know?!
Cheers now!

That altered sea shanty is a load of bollocks. It's not like it's condoning drink or anything like that.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the fuss over "Because I Got High" for similar reasons.
